I grew up in Cape Cod, Massachusetts where I cut my teeth sailing/racing “Beetle Cats” (Back then we called them slow – now they’re “classics”!) Lasers and Hobies. Sailed competitively in high school in Newport RI, and spent a semester on the school’s research vessel, a 52′ custom Yawl in Miami/Key West/Bahamas long-line fishing & tagging sharks. Delivered the boat back and forth from Newport to Miami via the offshore route. Crewed on several other boats overnighting to Nantucket, Block Island, etc. While in the Navy, I hauled my 420 all over the western US sailing in every river, lake and puddle I could find. Having recently moved to Bay Area, I purchased my “Good Old Boat”, the Catalina-30 “Trinacria”. Currently day sailing and overnighting in the Bay out of our private berth in Ballena Bay, Alameda, CA. I’m motivated to share this great boat and the Bay sailing experience with others.
